Terri Barry

 

 

Terri has experience teaching and leading Religious Education (RE), Citizenship, and Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) in England and holds registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in both RE and Modern Studies. She holds an MSc in Teaching and Learning from the University of Oxford, where she also completed her PGCE in RE and Citizenship.

Terri currently works as a teacher of Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies (RMPS) at a secondary school in Shetland and is the Research and Policy Lead for STARME, Scotland’s professional association for RE.

Terri’s PhD research at Queen Margaret University builds on her MSc research and a subsequent co-authored article with Dr Martha Shaw, The Interface of Religious Education and Citizenship in Schools: Reflections on the Contribution of a Combined ‘Worldviews Approach’. Having moved from England to Scotland, she is now researching how a worldviews approach, incorporating citizenship education, might complement the RE curriculum in non-denominational schools in Scotland.
