Samuel Yates

I am a Sociology Lecturer and Curriculum Lead at a further education college in Norfolk, with nearly a decade of teaching experience across diverse educational settings. I hold a BSc in Sociology with Education Studies and an MA in Religious Studies from the University of Chester.
My current doctoral research builds on my MA work, focusing on non-religious identification and masculinity. The thesis contributes to the growing field of non-religion by reframing the study of non-religious individuals as a distinct and meaningful category relationally to religion. Specifically, it examines how young men navigate post-16 education within the context of evolving gender relations. This research aims to support Religious Education practitioners in implementing a worldviews approach, ensuring they feel equipped to critically engage with non-religion.
