Luca La Monica

I am a Religious Education and Philosophy teacher at Trinity High school (Renfrewshire council – Scotland) and my main areas of research are RE, Philosophy and Catholic Education. I have obtained an undergraduate degree and an MSc in Philosophy at the University of Salerno (Italy) with a focus on Patristic and Medieval philosophy. I have obtained and MSc in Educational Studies at the University of Glasgow (Scotland) with a focus on the teaching of philosophy in RE. I have obtained a PGDE in Religious Education at the University of Glasgow. I have finally obtained an additional qualification in Philosophy awarded by GTCS.

My doctoral programme is a PhD in Catholic Education at the University of Glasgow. My thesis is based on the premise that teaching philosophy would enhance Religious Education. The analysis of some of the most important theories on the relationship between philosophy and a specifically Catholic vision of Religious Education would allow Catholic educators to develop pupils’ critical awareness and understanding of an array of religious concepts.

I am happy to be contacted by those with an interest in this area of research and would be happy to discuss my work so far. I am contactable at: llamonica9@gmail.com
