John Dunlop

I am a Teacher of Religious Education at St Ninian’s High School, Kirkintilloch (East Dunbartonshire, Scotland). I started my teaching career in 2018 and have graduated with MA (Hons) and MPhil degrees from the University of Glasgow. I started my PhD in 2025 at the University of Glasgow on a part-time basis.
My PhD thesis is critically examining the perspectives of specialist teachers of Religious Education in contemporary Catholic secondary schools in Scotland. My research is investigating the perspectives of these professionals in relation to the priorities in their varied roles and responsibilities, challenges they encounter and opportunities for their subject area and professional community.
