Elaine Arundell
I have been involved with religious education for 25 years, with 16 of those being a subject lead and almost 7 years being a diocesan RE advisor. As well as teaching three days a week in a primary school, I also work as an independent RE consultant supporting schools and creating primary RE resources. In my spare time, I enjoy Latin and Ballroom dancing with my husband and teenage daughters, making cushions and charity shopping.
My particular interests are spirituality and creativity so my MA research was based on how song can be used for KS2 pupils’ spiritual development and wellbeing. I started my my PhD in 2024 and my thesis is an extension of my previous research as I am now exploring the benefits and challenges of using song composition as a pedagogical tool in primary RE for developing social justice.
