I am currently CTL for RE at Stroud High School, a girls’ 11-18 grammar school with a co-ed Sixth Form. I also run the Local Group, GRETA (Gloucestershire RE Teachers’ Association) with the super support of our local RE teaching body, and, when there are trainees in abundance, I am the Subject Lead for the GITEP SCITT.

I have taught and led in RE for a number of years now and, whilst the GITEP SCITT role has furthered my understanding of RE in the wider picture, I applied to the Leadership Scholarship programme as I want to be part of the national development of and investment in RE, from teaching to training.

There are so many things that I am loving about the way in which our subject is developing, particularly the focus on Worldviews and the depth and nuance that this can bring to the work of those who hold all belief and none. I have also spent years messing around with curriculum design and assessment. I am intrigued to see how all this manifests if, or hopefully when, the proposed RE National Curriculum is published. This is not an easy subject to get right but, when you do, it is one of the best.
