Jenny Savage

I am based in Blackburn, Lancashire in the North West of England and work in a large secondary school serving a diverse community. I lead Religion and Worldviews and PSHE, working with both specialist and non-specialist staff to ensure high-quality provision across the curriculum.
I applied for the Leadership Scholarship Programme because I want to develop my strategic leadership and deepen my engagement with research, policy and national conversations in Religion and Worldviews. The programme offers a valuable opportunity to learn alongside other committed subject leaders while contributing to a professional community focused on strengthening the subject. I also see it as the right time to extend my impact beyond my own school and support greater consistency and confidence in provision.
I am most passionate about ensuring that all pupils, regardless of background or postcode, experience Religion and Worldviews education that is rigorous, inclusive and meaningful. I believe the subject has a unique role in developing critical thinking, understanding diversity and helping young people engage thoughtfully with the world around them. I am also passionate about supporting teachers and leaders so they feel confident in delivering high-quality provision.
