Iain Dover

I am the Head of Department at a secondary school in Cambridgeshire, and facilitate cross-Trust work for our Cambridgeshire based MAT. I am also the subject tutor for a network of local SCITT providers, and am an active mentor on the Cambridge University PCGE.
Having heard about the programme from previous cohort members and being in a position of considering what the next step in my career is, it felt like the best way to explore developing my career with a subject specific focus. The opportunity to create a bespoke support system to develop in areas that are most useful to me, as opposed to a set course is something that is rare to encounter and was hugely influential in deciding to apply.
I find that when teaching any topic, I become passionate about that content and the value of exploring that with the students I teach. As I explore more around topics I find that the complexity of each tradition and worldview is something that I really enjoy developing into lessons, showing the nuance and variations of belief and practice and how the intersection of ideas often leads to new development. This is something I find fascinating to bring into the classroom and to use to broaden student understanding.
