I live in beautiful Cornwall and am a Head of RE in a 11-18 school. I am also consultant to Cornwall SACRE and a LTLRE Hub leader for West Cornwall. Excitingly I am also lucky enough to work with the most amazing RE people in the country by being on the NATRE Executive Committee.
I applied for the Culham St Gabriel Leadership Scholarship Programme because I am committed to high-quality, meaningful RE that equips pupils to engage with a complex, pluralistic world. I want to develop my leadership capacity so that I can support and influence RE beyond the classroom—regionally and nationally—by contributing to a wider community of professionals who are equally passionate about the subject. This programme offers the unique mentoring and networking opportunities that will help me grow in confidence and make a wider impact in the field.
I am passionate about Religious Education because it plays a vital role in developing pupils as empathetic, reflective, and informed global citizens. RE encourages critical thinking, respect for diverse perspectives, and the ability to engage in meaningful dialogue—skills that are essential in today’s interconnected world. I believe that through RE, we empower young people to explore their own identities while understanding others’, laying the foundation for students contributing to a future where people live with respect, insight, and compassion toward one another.
