Grants

Culham St Gabriel’s welcomes grant applications for work to promote excellence in RE. Applicants are strongly advised to read Grant eligibility criteria before applying.

For all Personal Professional Development applications, our next deadline is: noon Tuesday 29th September 2020

Personal Professional Development Grants:

These grants are specifically to support personal professional development and are usually awarded to serving teachers or those working within the field of religious education such as advisers or early career researchers. For example, you might want to apply for funding to support master’s level study (although we advise you look at our Masters Scholarship programme first), a doctorate or other professional development which will support our vision of excellence in RE.

For these applications there is a one stage process. You are invited to complete an application form and submit this by the deadline. Your application will be considered and you will be notified whether you have been successful after the Grants Committee meeting which is usually about one month after the deadline.

Small-Scale Grants:

Small-Scale grants are typically awarded for new innovative projects or seed-corn funding which support the Trust’s vision and strategic goals. The maximum amount for which applicants can apply is £5K.

We welcome applications from individuals and groups of teachers as well as charities, organisations and corporate bodies.

These applications are taken in two stages. Stage 1 is an initial short expression of interest application. If this is accepted, you will be invited to complete a fuller Stage 2 application form. You will normally have about 2 weeks to complete this second form and will be invited to have a phone conversation with the Chief Executive about your application before it is considered by Trustees. Your application will be considered and you will be notified whether you have been successful after the Grants’ Committee meeting which is usually about five to six weeks after the deadline. If your expression of interest is not accepted or is held at Stage 1 you will be notified of this approximately one week after the deadline.

The average grant awarded in 2019-20 so far is approximately £14.5K.  If you are seeking more than £30K in funding please contact the Chief Executive, Dr Kathryn Wright,  to discuss this (ceo@cstg.org.uk) and also consider whether your project could be funded by more than one Trust or Foundation, please see here for other sources of funding.

We welcome applications from organisations, charities and corporate bodies.

These applications are also taken in two stages. Your application will be considered, and you will be notified whether you have been successful either after the Grants’ Committee meeting or after the Full Board meeting. This could be up to 10 weeks after the application deadline. If your expression of interest is not accepted or is held at Stage 1 you will be notified of this approximately one week after the deadline.

Advice for all applicants

For all three types of grant award, the Trust places a particular emphasis on the importance of impact, dissemination, collaboration and partnership, and for small and large-scale grants is also interested to learn how a project can be helped to become self-sustaining.
