I teach in a large community secondary school in the London Borough of Hounslow. The pupils and staff come from a variety of walks of life which we try to celebrate through the RE curriculum and whole school events.

I applied for the Leadership Scholarship programme to help me sharpen my understanding of the of pedagogical developments and current debates in RE. I want to be a part of the RE community’s efforts in ensuring every child can see themselves in the curriculum. Listening to and learning about the current research fills me with hope for the future.

I am fascinated by how individuals and communities try to make sense of the world we live in and how we communicate this within our communities and across society and societies as a whole. We, as humans, have so much more in common than we think. I feel it is a privilege and an honour to try to create safe spaces for young people to explore their understanding of the world and equip them with the skills to stand tall in their beliefs and worldviews whilst promoting community cohesion.
